NYT Raises the BridgeBeginning tomorrow, the Op-Ed Gang at The New York Times will be put behind a subscription firewall.I will miss Krugman, Rich, Herbert and Dowd, but not enough to pay $45 annually for the privilege of reading them. Some bloggers are saying this could be the start of restrictions on internet content, with other publications following suit. I doubt it. The Los Angeles Times, which did the same thing with their Calendar Section, backtracked this year and made the section open to the public once again. Granted it's a different section of the paper but the same principle applies: if people think they can get similar, if not better, content from other sources, they wouldn't be willing to pay the subscription price. +Save/Share | | |
