Librarian Prevails in Standoff with FBIYes Virginia, there are still heroes:An e-mail threat that prompted the evacuation of more than a dozen Brandeis University buildings on January 18 led to an unusual standoff in a public library in Newton, Mass., a few miles from the Brandeis campus.Reminds me of Kurt Vonnegut's loving ode to these quiet denizens who protect our basic liberties without fanfare: So the America I loved still exists, if not in the White House or the Supreme Court or the Senate or the House of Representatives or the media. The America I love still exists at the front desks of our public libraries. +Save/Share | | |
