Scott McClellan's Mom Dumps GOP to Run Against Perry

Carol Keeton Strayhorn, Texas state controller and mother of White House Press Secretary Scotty McClellan, has had enough of Republican governor Rick Perry's "weak leadin', ethics ignorin', pointin' the finger at everyone blamin', special session callin', public school slashin', slush fund spendin', toll road buildin', special interest panderin', rainy day fund raidin', fee increasin', no property tax cuttin', promise breakin', do nothin' phony conservative" ways.

Ms. Strayhorn, a former Democrat who switched to the Republican Party in 1985, will be running as an independent against Perry.

Feisty move for Ms. Strayhorn who's taking on the Republican Party machine in a crimson red state. I bet party leaders are none too happy with the defection; her odds don't look good at this point but will certainly absorb resources that are better spent somewhere else, such as salvaging the political future of Tom DeLay and the fate of Texas's congressional redistricting, the legality of which will be taken up by the United States Supreme Court much to the chagrin of party leaders.

Poor Scotty. As if deflecting increasingly tough questions isn't hard enough, he must've gotten some pressure to discourage Mommy from running; obviously Mommy has a mind of her own.
