Don't Do It, Bob

Really, just stay in New York. New York is nice. We don't need another Joe Liebermann:

A day after Nebraska Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel said he won't seek re-election next year, Kerrey met in Washington with Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y.

Schumer, a longtime friend who heads the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, told Kerrey that the contest in Nebraska next year offers a "great opportunity" for the party.

[...]

Kerrey doesn't walk in lockstep with his party, however. He recently wrote a newspaper essay arguing that a dramatic withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq would hand terrorists victory and enable them to destroy the fledgling democracy there.

Tuesday he mentioned the troubles in the financial markets. Some Democrats have called for repealing tax cuts pushed through Congress by President Bush as a solution to stabilize the markets.

"That'd make it worse," Kerrey said.
