Dick's Nuggets

Dick Cheney gave us two money quotes this week.

On terrorist attacks:

"If we make the wrong choice, then the danger is that we'll get hit again -- that we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States...And then we'll fall back into the pre-9/11 mindset, if you will, that in fact these terrorist attacks are just criminal acts and that we're not really at war. I think that would be a terrible mistake for us."
In short, vote Bush or die. Funny considering 9/11 happened on their watch.

Al Gore quickly condemned his words as a sleazy and despicable effort to blackmail voters with fear. John Edwards called it un-American. To that I add utterly distasteful and desperate.

The enormous backlash caused Dick to backtrack but it's too late. He knows and everybody knows what he said.

Then Dick said this about the economy:

Indicators measure the nation's unemployment rate, consumer spending and other economic milestones, but Vice President Dick Cheney says it misses the hundreds of thousands who make money selling on eBay.

"That's a source that didn't even exist 10 years ago," Cheney told an audience in Cincinnati on Thursday. "Four hundred thousand people make some money trading on eBay."

To which John Edwards hit the perfect return:

"If we only included bake sales and how much money kids make at lemonade stands, this economy would really be cooking".

Atta boy, John.
