David Geffen's $2 Billion Bid for LATimes

I mentioned him in a previous entry as one of potential buyers of my city's paper, but this time he's made a firm offer with cool cash to back it up.

The article notes that he even sold some valuable pieces from his private art collection to raise the cash, but the owners are interested only in selling all of Tribune Company and not just the L.A. Times.

Hopefully, they would reconsider Geffen's offer if there are no takers. The LATimes seriously needs to stop the cutting and slashing of the staff, not to mention a serious content and op/ed makeover; Geffen might just be the guy to pull it off.
