World Aids DayLearn more about the Red Campaign here and the United Nations Aids Program here. Due to advances in antiretroviral medication, HIV has been reduced to a chronic condition in most developed countries, but HIV/AIDS is still a major killer worldwide. The fight isn't over until humanity finds a cure. According to the latest U.N. Global Summary of the AIDS Epidemic (pdf): • 39.5 million worldwide are living with HIV, 17.7 million of which are women and 2.3 million of which are children. • 4.3 million are newly infected with HIV this year. • 2.9 million died of AIDS this year, 380,000 of which are children. Though a cure remains elusive, small miracles do happen. Keep thinking Red. Tags:
