Absurd Puritanism

It's all about teh sex:

The Federal Communications Commission has proposed a $1.4 million fine against 52 ABC Television Network stations over a 2003 broadcast of cop drama NYPD Blue...

The agency said the show was indecent because "it depicts sexual organs and excretory organs , specifically an adult woman's buttocks."

The agency rejected the network's argument that "the buttocks are not a sexual organ."

This is beyond ridiculous. What I find more offensive is how the FCC concedes to the letter writing campaigns of evangelical warriors who've made it their life's mission to define decency for the rest of us and battle every hint of nudity and/or sexuality no matter the context. Nudity is not pornography, and I certainly don't need a daddy figure to tell me that the human body is icky and I shouldn't watch it on my t.v.

Nudity/Sexuality is not obscene. Murder, violence and torture is. It's time the rest of us tell these people to quit their petty prudishness, get their priorities straight and grow up.
