Why does Ralph Nader insist on being an ass?

During a Sunday press conference and campaign rally attended by RAW STORY, Independent Presidential Candidate Ralph Nader claimed that liberals and Democrats who will vote for Sen. Barack Obama as the "least worst candidate" are actually trapped in "political slavery."

At the campaign stop in Austin, Texas, Nader spoke to an audience of approximately 200 about his campaign's primary issues in the 2008 presidential election. During the press conference -- held in a sweltering classroom at the back of a small, suburban Methodist church -- Nader also directly addressed an elderly white woman as a "political bigot."

To imply that Obama is some sort of political "Slave Massa" is not only stupid, it's outrageously offensive. And to think this isn't the first time Nader waded in muck like this. Back in June, he was caught on tape accusing Obama of wanting to "talk white".

The man has completely lost it. I haven't been a Nader fan for years, especially since he started his vanity presidential runs, but it still makes me cringe to see a champion of consumer rights and the working class do everything in his power to tarnish his legacy and reduce himself to an embarrassing spectacle.

Stop digging a deeper hole, Ralph. Seriously, just stop. If you truly want to change the system -- and judging by your actions the past several years, that's a big if -- start from the ground up. Field independent candidates at the grassroots level. Build a true political movement, not just a movement around yourself.
