The Giuliani $9.11 Fundraiser

Talk about exploiting a tragedy:

Abraham Sofaer is having a fundraiser at his Palo Alto, Calif., home on Wednesday, when Giuliani backers across the country are participating in the campaign's national house party night...

According to the invitation, "$9.11 for Rudy" is an "independent, non-denominational grass-roots campaign to raise $10,000 in small increments to show how many individual, everyday Americans support `America's Mayor.'"

Sofaer said the $9.11 "theme" wasn't his, that some of the "young people" came up with it.

Whoever came up with this idea must've had the go ahead from the Giuliani campaign, because it's on the official affair invitation. That the campaign is silent on the matter only confirms they don't have a problem with how exploitive it is.

What's next? A $29.74 fundraiser for every person who got killed that day?

Shameless. Then again, that's in keeping with Giuliani's entire presidential run.
