Survey USA's Senate Approval Ratings

Political Wire links us to the latest Survey USA report on Senate approval rankings.

Some highlights:

Of all 100 U.S. Senators, moderate Republicans Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine have the most favorable ratings, ranking 1st and 2nd respectively. These self-avowed pro-choice Republicans would likely see their approval ratings go down if they vote yes on SCOTUS nominee Alito.

Democratic party darling Barack Obama (IL) ranks 3rd, followed by Democrats Tim Johnson (SD), Kent Conrad (ND) and Byron Dorgan (ND). North and South Dakota are both red states. Johnson, Conrad and Dorgan are potential blueprints for a Democratic takeover in '06.

Meanwhile, Rick Santorum (PA) is at the bottom of the list again with a -3% net approval rating (say bye bye, Rick).

Last but not least, the bottom ten welcomes a new member: Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (TN). As his SEC woes unravel, expect his ratings to tank further.
